I doubt that'd be a good idea. A soviet theme is not a good idea, NOT at this location. But did I already mention, that a theme like Golden 20's would be cool?  ;D

Id go along with this if we made it a combined 1920s and Lovecraft/Call of Cthulhu theme! After all it is the classic setting for lovecraft.

Finally! A con theme that actively supports tentacles! :)

QuoteA soviet theme would suck, other than the propaganda art, the hotel would have change its décor to be as bland as possible, the restaurant would not be all you can eat more strictly limited bland portions of crap food, SIG's would include "how to build statues of Lenin for beginers" and "The peoples round table". People could only arrive in LADA Rivas and Trabants, and the stage equipment would be shipped in from the Czech republic, we would have to keep cheetah away from anything metal during the stage performances again. Cues for the restaurant, no come to think of it not just the restaurant but anything would be a mile long. Fursuiters in the fursuit game show would all have to be secretly slipped steroids in order to win medals. 2 would be shot on site, not just in the courtyard. Art in the artshow would have to meet the approval of the party, as would material in the dealers den. Fun could be had playing jump the wall and hunt the banana. Finally the security staff would be replaced with the Stasi, who would insure that any fur that misbehaved would not be heard from again.

Yeah a soviet theme would suck like a trip to a gulag.

Yep, and we shouldn't forget that this part where the con takes place, suffered 40 years under the socialism. So, we definitely shouldn't disqualify ourselves with a soviet theme.

Feels a little close to what we've just had with the Las Vagas theme (thats just an adult fun fair).

Hmm... actually, I thought more about one 1900-fun-fair or the like, you know, with 'High Striker' (is it really that name in English?), fortune tellers, bards perhaps, throwing balls at stacked cans (how the hell is that called in English?! No dictionary I found knew it :P), fire-breathers, a lady with a snake, .......

Just that romantic (in its true sense) and a little frightening atmosphere you get in these places.

It's called "Throwing balls at stacked cans", there is no official or unofficial name for it. :P

In 1977 Status Quo had a hit "Rocking all over the world". Why not have a theme "Furring all over the world"? Since furries come to every con from all over the world, that shouldn't be a problem, right? Different country-themes, games, sports, music. You can even make a pawpetshow with a lot of traveling in it.
A box of chocolates is like a fursuit, you never know what's inside...

"Furring all over the world"?

Shedding all over the world? Sponsored by a vacuum cleaner company?

No, not shedding, furring... Okay, let me rephase that: Furries all over the world. Better now, mr. Cheetah sir? ;D

[offtopic] I wonder how the vacuumcleaners in the hotel held up with all those furs ;D[/offtopic]

The Fauna Project can only use three chord's though if the con has anything to do with the Quo.

Oh and the pawpet show would have to set on "Coronation Street"*.

*And I think that refrance is totally lost on 99% of the furs on this site.

Coronation street? I don't get that... and neither will 99% of the furs on this site I think.

I had a few ideas on what could be the theme for the next convention.

Space and Science fiction,

Pros - Possibilities for music (orchestral and electronic), for electronic visuals (around the convention and in the pawpet show), some tie0s with SF themed furry fiction. As far as I know

Cons – Makes EF sound like a generic EF / fantasy convention, lots of special effects could cost the convention.

Fairy tails and myths

Pros – Anthmorphism in many fairy tails, myths and legend (talking animals at the very least), very early origins of furry fandom, showcase for story tellers and writers, German association with many well known fairy tales (Brothers Grimm), maybe a little room for themed music in the fauna project and furry music café.

Cons – Other than attempts at magic in the paw pet show there's not much room for anything special. Might be a bit too similar to previous medieval themes.

Heaven and Hell.

Pros – Original (for a furry con), can work for the hotel layout. Top lobby, bar and stage Heaven, Art show, dealers den and SIG rooms Purgatory (or Hell provided on space), lower bar area and club Hell, invite David Hopkins as art GOH.

Cons – the cast of the pawpet show are going to have to die, religious conflict, would suck if you couldn't get Dave Hopkins, Getting Dave Hopkins would be expensive, other than the layout its very limp an idea for a fur convention.

What? Not tell you the reference. I'll let you work it out for yourselves. Besides I've got a German Girl Friend who showed me "Der Schul des Manitu".

"These guys are popular TV comedians in Germany, and this was a big hit" She said.

"I've never heard of them" I said, and I was a little lost too with the Joke about the German "kinder egg" commercial (but I've looked it all up since).

That siad though I did find "Der Schul des Manitu" funny, even though it was the apprently not as good XXL version.
