   Nothing so sinister or mysterious (or tantalizing!).

   The gentlefur had a logisitical problem, rather than a personal one; I believe he was looking for a piece of "common" photographic hardware not easily found in his own environs, and was looking for someone travelling in who could obtain it for him and deliver it when they arrived for the convention.

   Evidently, he has arranged some sort of solution - thus eliminating the problem.
