Hi, i'm wondering if the International snack exchange is gonna happen this year? If Gwyndolium can do it again this year that will be great!
If it happens, then i'm gonna bring Turkish snacks once again to sample out for you guys as many of you enjoyed them last year! :D
One of my favourite recurring events of the con, let's do it again :)
I'm looking forward that me too. Unfortunately, This year I'll travel to EF by airplane, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to bring some food or goodies with me.
Positive! Not sure if it will be sausages again this year, but I will come up with something...
I'll come from sicily by airplane, if some one have some request I'll try to satisfy you ^^ (only no fridge food plz)
Cedrata Tassoni! That stuff is amazing :D
Totally joining in another one of these! Will gladly bring some Norwegian brown cheese as long as there is room in the bag! :3

lol! But it isn't from sicily but from Brascia :D
I really hope this is going to happen again! Doesn't require much, just a room with some tables.
I'd bring something again :)
This will be my first EF, but count me in! I'll bring some Danish snackies along, then :D I have two in mind already, and one of them will be homemade... It's a christmas treat but I don't care, it's damnably delicious, if I should say so myself! :D
I'd love to join if you guys manage to get a room for this :)
Would be bringing some dutch snacks then ^^
Who want russian snacks? Have any suggestions?
Can somebody confirm that the snack exchange is actually scheduled and happening?
I want to work on some stuff for it, will probably do it in any case since it little effort but it makes to sense to spread the word if there's nothing planned!
We have it in the OTRS, communication is going on :)
I am NOT the organizer of this event, but it IS one of my favorite things at the whole con! So I wanted to help a bit with making some printable signs that you can bring if you plan to hand out snacks.
I should mention that I got this idea from Tifou, who brought incredibly neat self-made signs least year with maps and everthing showing exactly where in France the cookies he brought originated from.
There are two types of signs:
This first set are simply signs showing the country. It would be awesome if each table has at least one of these! I have made signs for each country of which I am aware that people attend or have attended EF and/or have been represented at the snack exchange before. If your country is missing, I'm sorry! Just poke me and I can make one for whatever country or region you'd need. I have put these all in one big PDF, so when printing just select the page(s) that you need.
-Click here for a pdf with all the country signs (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3240743/Snack%20Exchange/Flag%20signs.pdf)- 1.2mb
-Click here for a country sign odt template (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3240743/Snack%20Exchange/Flag%20sign%20template.odt)- 12kb
The second is for individual items. There's space for the snack name, country and a short description. Especially useful for some certain countries *cough* that like disguising their candy as sweets only to put ammonium chloride on the inside XD
I have a pdf that you can simply print and write on, and an odt that you can edit in various programs before printing.

-Click here for the odt template (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3240743/Snack%20Exchange/Snack%20sign%20template.odt)- 15kb
And lastly, here's a zip file with a whole bunch of country flags (gif) that are free to use.

I hope to see you there!

Great idea!
Maybe we could add little symbols like this (http://www.euroveg.eu/evu/english/news/news974/10.gif) to label vegetarian and vegan things. (Sometimes that's hard to tell just by looking at the food.)

That's nice, but I guess it's fine without those too: it's a very social event, people ask and talk about the articles in depth anyway.
Last year I've represented Russia. I will be glad to join the event this year too ^_____^
@ Henrieke: that's cool! Thanks for making these :D
I'll gladly bring some american good's.
Just wanted to confirm to you guys that the snack exchange is a go! Just like the last couple of years I don't have much time to prepare but so far this has never been needed as you guys just rocked the house with your snacks!
The same rules apply as the last couple of years:
- Taking your own snacks is optional but highly apreciated as you guys make the event happen!
- Don't take anything:
- Illegal
- Too smelly
- Too high in alcohol (we are not there to get drunk)
- Too big, try bring stuff you can divide in small pieces.
I'll try to bring stuff like cups, plates and napkins but any addition from you guys is apreciated as I'm not sure how many will come!
Also if you are bringing something have a look at the awesome idea of Henrieke and print out one of those cards with the country flag and snack on it!
Hope to see you all at EF! You all rock!
Sounds interesting never been to an event like that ;) Nice to see that there is also some turkish food. I absolutely love it. KadayIf, Künefe, Baklava etc. ;)

My German girlfriend has baked a couple of cakes and cookies I have never seen in the Netherlands.
If you can name a couple you would see as traditional, I can probably tell you if they make them here anywhere and others can confirm if they don't know it either.
Typical german:
Our bakery goods: we have lots of different bread types.
Btw that was a statement from a turkish friend visiting germany the first time :)
Sauerkraut
Potatoe soup I'd say
Grühnkohl
Our beer types :)
...
... and woodruff flavoured stuff like jelly, sherbet and of course syrup, aka "Eurofurence Green" ;).
(Zeug mit Waldmeistergeschmack wie Götterspeise, Brausepulver und Sirup)
I will bring a few norwegian treats. :3
