Are there any boardgame shops in Magdeburg? Or around Berlin Hbf? Although I'm afraid most games they sell are German editions...
You can check out the toystore next to the hotel in the mall, I don't recall the name but it's there! ;D
EDIT: SPIELEMAX was the name of the store, check that! :)
as SunWolf said: there's Spielemax in the upper level of the shopping mall across the street. Also there's a Toys"r" (toys supermarket) us in the Olvenstedter Graseweg, a leisurely 40min Suitwalk from the Maritim: http://goo.gl/maps/ZmVgA. But you're right, they'll all be in german. An address for Berlin would be http://www.spielbrett-berlin.de/ these people are dedicated to board games, may be worth a try, even if you have to step out of the railway station :-)
I wish you luck!

There is a role-play shop just out the back of the hotel. Not sure if they also got board games, but it's worth a try, I'd say.

As far as I remember it is more a Comic shop (called Comic Kombinat) than a role play shop. They offer a lot of Mangas, not sure if they have any games. Side info: They also sold their Comics at the Connichi in Kassel the last two years.

when I talked to the guys at the Hanami in Ludwigshafen they spoke about a possible relocation. Unfortunately I cannot make out a web presence of them
