Hi there,

Ever wanted to do a Lightshow for all that Fursuiters dancing or while BBF is spinning?
Ever wanted to work with a big lighting rig?

Then we are looking for you!
We are looking for about 8 people to help us run the lightshow during the dances at EF.

Some experience in Martin Lightjockey is a plus but it's not needed. We will teach it to you in a couple of minutes, it's really simple and fun the moment you start working with it.
Also you will have an experienced light tech from our team at your side the whole time, that will help you if you get stuck somewhere.

The Dances last for about 8h each. So every volunteer will get a 2h "shift".

If we could rise your interest you can apply right here in this thread.
Already have some preferences? Tell them too. :)

Here are the Slots we are looking to fill in:

Fursuit Dance (Thursday)
21:00 - 23:00 Shift - A
23:00 - 01:00 Shift - B
01:00 - 03:00 Shift - C
03:00 - 05:00 Shift - D

Big Blue Dance (Saturday)
21:30 - 23:00 Shift - A
23:00 - 01:00 Shift - B
01:00 - 03:00 Shift - C
03:00 - 05:00 Shift - D

Thanks for your help

That sounds great... but I'm afraid I'm not good enough yet. I have no experience with this brand of equipment (and this amount of equipment), so I'd probably get all confused and cause more work for the team than be helpful. So far, I've only been the LJ at smaller cons, and I guess a party with 100 attendees has far less equipment than EF  ;D.

Since this is my first EF, I'd rather leave this task to someone with more experience. I don't wanna be "that person who ruined the dance by crashing the light programming"  ;).

Is it possible to hang around for one shift with another LJ and just watch and learn?

i can help but i wan't have of the early shifts if posibel also no expercoence with light shows but i want to learn

I'd really love to do this. I have absolutely no experience operating such a rig at all, but have played around with DMXControl for a bit (with a virtual setup, no real equipment involved). Of course, I'd be willing to read documentation ahead of time to make the on-site briefing as efficient as possible.

I would really appreciate the chance of trying it out. If possible, I'd like the Fursuit Dance Slot A B - given that you'd want someone with no experience to take that one.

Hey,

I can only confirm what Jaryic said. This is an unique opportunity to be able to get to know more about the huge lighting rig at the stage of Eurofurence and also get to try it.

Even if you don't feel confident enough yet, we will have someone to introduce you to the software and the rig. The most important thing is that you bring along creativity and motivation!  :D

I'm interested in expanding my expertise and also be on the other side of the FoH where so far I've just watched the LJs, so this is a fascinating offer.
I've never done any lighting myself before, though, so would probably need a bit more help on "how to make it look good" than just "Where are the buttons". Thus I'd also aim more for a one-hour slot, or a shared slot, preferably during the Thursday dance.

Would this be possible, or would you recommend against it?

Maybe we could share the thursday A shift? Each of us does one hour?

We plan to make all slots shared with one of our resident lighting technicians :)

Well you can try, but experience has taught us that it can get chaotic quickly when you have too many eager people behind the desk. :)

Just giving you a small update on what's going on in the background.

We have started assembling our work schedule. Since we're not yet done with it, you'll have to give us another couple of days. Expect a final version to be done by next Tuesday. :) I'll post the dances here, so you know witch shift you got assigned to. :)

Aside from that, there are three dates that might be of interest for you. On Thursday between 10:00 and 14:00 Djem, our lighting designer, will be programming the light shows for all the events and dances. And he offered to let everyone take a peak over his shoulder who is interested in concepts, programming or running light later during the con.

He will also take the first senior shift on both dances. So, if you are on duty running light that night and have some questions or just want to have a quick fresh up, this is your chance to catch the man that knows the rig, the light board and the programming inside out. :)

Thanks for offering your help

If you still need someone to take one of the "D"-Shifts (preferrably on Saturday) I would offer my help as well!

I have some experience in DJing and setting up lights equipment, but I have rather no experience as a LJ - apart from the few times testing the setups :) Still, I'd love to get some hands-on experience!

Jaryic

Hello folks.

today we finally nailed the stage schedule.
Thanks to everyone who offered his/her help.
There were some doubles ups so not everyone got a slot but we tried to fit everyone in on the slots they asked for and got the times nicely covered - except the dreaded D-shift. :)

Well without further talk, here's the schedule for the dances:

Thursday, Fursuit Dance

Time | Senior (Stage Crew) | Junior (Volunteer)
21:00 - 23:00 | Djem | IsaacFox
23:00 - 01:00 | IsaacFox | Darkwing
01:00 - 03:00 | Mafundi | Diesel
03:00 - 05:00 | Nikoshi | -

Saturday, BigBlueDance

Time | Senior (Stage Crew) | Junior (Volunteer)
21:00 - 23:00 | Djem | Avalon
23:00 - 01:00 | IsaacFox | Darkwing
01:00 - 03:00 | Mafundi | Garra
03:00 - 05:00 | Nikoshi | Fero

and again everyone interested is welcomed on our dance light programming session Tuesday starting at 10am (this is not in the official programming - just a poi for you light-nuts :) )

Tanks again and see you at the con!

When the dance starts with a delay ... are the slots being pushed backwards, too, or do the slots remain?
