Hi, is it possible to get an RSS of unread posts since last visit from this forum? It would be very convenient for me at work to read the posts in text.

I can only offer you the RSS feed that SMF1.1.8 offers by default. Unless you know a specific add-on that I could install.

that would be cool. I'm not a geek - honest.

Well. You don't have to be a geek. All you need to know where your web broswes RSS feed subscription button is :) In Firefox, it's part of the address bar, on the right.

Ah actually I am geeky enough to know that. My iGoogle homepage is riddled with rss feeds from various sites.

What's the address for the feed please?

I know this is off topic but did you guys make any decisions about the body painting thread I started? I don't think I'm going to do it now as I'll be flying and will need to travel light.

This wasn't a mess! It was organized chaos!

Thanks so much. That is so cool.

I am so looking forward to coming this year - it will be my 4th.

The forum not only offers an RSS feed, but also an ATOM feed. It can be accessed by appending "type=atom" to the feed-url.

So the feeds are: RSS and ATOM

More information about SMF feeds and their options can be found in this post.

The ATOM feed has the advantage that it also contains the nickname of the person who wrote a post, whereas the RSS feed would use  the email address. This is inconventient since the email address will not be shown for those who have disabled it, and quite often it's not obvious which person belongs to the address. So the recommendation is to use the ATOM feed if you're interested in the names of the posters :)

As for the original posters question, there is no feed for "unread" posts. The function to mark posts as read or unread should be part of your feedreader (some do, some don't). The very notion of "unread" needs some kind of information what in fact you DID read. The usual assumption is that you read everything on each login and nothing when not logged in - thus it shows all new posts since the last login. If you're reading via external feeds the forum doesn't know what you might have read already :)
