It is indeed Shep's idea from the very start (see first post).

Anything with wheels and an internal combustion engine is welcome; cars, trucks, motorcycles, buses, even tractors :)

Well saying that... are tracks allowed? Cause me and a friend have (jokingly) toyed with the idea of driving to EF in a tank :P

Nightfox

It would be allowed but i would not try it.......

It can happen that they simply not let you into the country.
Even if it would be allowed and legal.

1) You'd need rubber track covers for road use
2) I doubt you'd find any insurers that would cover you for that long a distance road use in both the UK *AND* Europe
3) Have fun trying to get one on a Ferry, as you won't fit on the Eurotunnel :P
4) I hope you've won the lottery to fund the fuel costs

Nice idea, would be fun to see, but I'd advise against it, tbh. It would require a lot of forwards planning with authorities, which you really don't have the time to do now.

I'm almost expecting a combine to roll in...

I'd like to see one of those weird ex-DDR origami tractors that I've seen in the countryside around Suhl to roll up. Failing that, a Trabant or a Wartburg would be nice. Maybe we could set up some sort of photo opportunity next to the old Robur RB21 bus if it's still there?

:)

Shep asks: Would anyone be interested in visiting the Automobilbau Museum in nearby Eisenach with me at some point over the weekend?

I wanted to go there during EF13, but I had no reliable way of getting there.

Why going that far? Simson is directly in Suhl.
If you hear a wolf howl, you can guess which pain he feels.

Simson produced cars before WWII, then the company owners, jews, were taken their property and after WWII they noticed, they had a factory their, the name Simson came back to mind and then the production of small motorcycles started. ^^

I didn't know that. I only associate the name with bikes ;)

If you take the other green car you can take the FedSig on a ride :)

That's what you learn if you work for a german motorcycle after market parts manufacturer. ;) I didn't know that before either. ^^

Like i said we tlaked about it jokingly. As in, we know about our military vehicles and their love of binging on fuel and all other aspects. Me and my friend have been interested in the the military, military history for a long time.

It would be funny to see happen, but we know it would never happen.

I have access to/can borrow a road-legal IFV if thats any help...It'll fit on the Eurotunnel too, about the same width as a truck and significantly lower. All it needs is a huge supply of petrol/diesel/whiskey?! I've heard it runs on pretty much anything flammable the guy can find, hehe. Its a wee bit rusty, but he claims its got an MOT an everything!

And why did the word "Combine" make me think of Half Life rather than Farmer Jones?
